Just wondering what your consensus is on calling or texting for the first time. I think in this massive techno age that alot of people would text.

For me I dont really like talking on the phone and avoid it as much as possible. Im more of a texter as I can role play, joke around, tease... much easier.

Maybe the response rate might not be as high? or maybe it depends on the amount of texting v calling the other person does.

Other peoples perception is what matters most. For instance if the girl had made a comment before that she hates texting...then you call.

I personally hate texting, but i put up with it to an extent. I always find myself 45 mins into a text conversation thinking to myself "I just wish there was some way i could communicate all this faster and easy...".

Some times you gotta base it on personal preference, other times on what you think the other person is most likely to respond positively to.

Both have their advantages, and texting is popular for one very large reason...its impersonal. The connection made when texting is not as strong as the one made when speaking, and thats not as strong as the one made in person. People for some reason like the distance that texting provides, probably because it allows them to remain in, or quickly get back to their comfort zone.

I like texting in the respect that it gives me time to be cleaver and think out my responses...at the same time i think it limits the effect of my personalty traits.

As with most things, i think a healthy balance is called for when communicating. Sometimes texting implies and conveys things the quickest and to the fullest, other times it seems to me that a call is appropriate.

I'd also consider, if you said/were asked to call, I'd call. Keep to what you said.

Yep, keep to your word.

Personal perception also matters.

Personally, I normally prefer texting as well . . . UNLESS I know I'm gonna be going over a LOT of stuff. Then I'd much rather call and get it out in a few minutes. But usually I'll text. Most people much prefer it that way, that I deal with. Most girls seem to LOVE texting. I can shoot a text off fairly quickly, unless I have several come to me at once, which does happen. I can get to the incoming texts at my own convenience. For me, it's mainly a convenience thing. Plus, I can text while talking on the phone, while doing something else, such as scanning something online or dealing with my kids.
