PostSubject: I'm a Bastard   Sat Aug 14, 2010 1:13 am

God I'm a bastard! I was just thinking back on today.....I was eating
breakfast with a woman I'd had a good time with last night and while
we're eating, I just start laughing and then tell her "Ummm. I'm sorry
but next week I'm becoming a monk and I'm taking my vows of celibacy.
I'm soooo sorry, but no more sex for you. hahahaha

I will say this, straying from that. I sometimes feel like I don't
belong on this planet, as funny as that sounds. I don't make a lot of
money but I've avoided the slavery that most people find themselves in.
Because I didn't buy into the bullshit that a house is a good
investment (it isn't....it's a liability). I avoided having children. I
haven't made a car payment in 10 years. I buy used and cheap. I have
nothing tieing me down. Nothing. I'm not saying I have the perfect
life. I've just managed to avoid slavery.

Even rich people are slaves. They fool themselves into thinking they're
not. They've allowed their possessions to own them instead of the other
way around. To me freedom is about doing what you want. You can have
decent things without paying the highest dollar for everything. So I
chose to go that route. Use my money to have freedom instead of an
excess of things.

I have nice things. I just spent very little on them and always
minimize and simplify where I can....... I pick on my boss in a fun
way. I even fired my boss and gave her a penny in severance pay.
hahahahaha Joking of course. I actually fired both my bosses.... I gave
my manager a big hug when she suspended me for being late too many
times (and she liked it).

I mindfucked one of my co-workers into not wanting to get her hair cut.
hahaha God. That sounds lame here. But it was some classic shit! Let's
just say she was getting mental pictures of a leprechaun giving her a
bad haircut. :p

I'm as lazy as a housecat but I also exercise and you'd never know I'm
lazy by looking at me. I probably sleep as much as a cat. Many days
I've slept 12+ hours. But I also can also outwork most people
(physically)..... Okay, this was a pretty strange post. More like me
rambling and thinking out loud (and I'm not even drunk!). Catch you
later!

I don't know what you do now, financially, but from this post you seem to have some financial sense. Good to hear you understand the truth about a house. If someone can pay cash for a house it's a different story, but for taking out a loan on it, it's not really a smart financial move.

PostSubject: Re: I'm a Bastard   Tue Sep 14, 2010 2:16 am

Financially I hardly make any money. I just haven't created any real financial obligations. In fact, the past month and a half, my manager reduced my schedule to working only 2 days a week. Not what I wanted but still, I'd saved enough from when I was working more hours to take a trip to Europe. So I just got back today from a 2 and a half week vacation to The UK and Italy....... She makes way more money than me (my manager) but she spends it all on an expensive house, car, and her kid.

She could probably still afford to make a trip to Europe or wherever she wanted but she's stuck in a rut where she and her husband always go visit her family. She, like most people, is stuck in a rut. She's bored with her marriage, bored with taking the same vacation every year. I just try to avoid the rut. That's really all I do. It's definitely not from making lots of money. There are lots of societal and financial traps that will rob you of your freedom if you follow the conventional bullshit wisdom. About the only practical wisdom I find is the practical ability to do certain things. Like learning about how to work on cars or how to cook or any practical knowledge of learning how to do a specific task.

I was listening to a brief spot on the news where they were talking about certain "important" people in the world of banking that "call the shots", and I'm thinking "They don't call the shots for ME.". As far as I'm concerned, all of that b.s. is irrelevant. I don't give a shit about the banks or the economy or any of that garbage. All of that talk is people giving other people waaaayyy too much power over them. What's the worst that could happen? If the dollar completely collapsed you either move to another country with a better economy, or you learn to hunt (i've never hunted but I'm pretty sure I could learn it just as well or better than anyone else). You learn to build your own shelter. You do whatever it takes to survive (within ethical means). I find that when I avoid playing other people's games and play my own game, things are really simple. It's not a matter of trying to change anyone or anything. You just don't give a fuck about what other people do. It's non-existent in your world. Oh, it's there as far as information about what other people do, but it doesn't guide or dictate your life.

You have a good point, except that you are still somewhat dictated to regarding the economy. Because, the worse the economy tanks, the less hours YOU get, the less you make, etc.

The bad economy will end up affecting us all, in one way or another. Unless someone actually uses their brans and turns the pile of shit around. It's been done before, it can be done again. But not with the current "policies". You may not care about the banks, and that's fine, but most of us have to use them, especially if we are in business for ourselves, which is how "I" believe we should be, because that's a way to make more and keep more, if handled correctly, than working for someone else.

I understand your concern. And yeah, being in business for yourself is better than working for someone else. I agree. Funny thing is, when the economy was "good" I was making less money. When the economy went down the shitter, I started making more money. More than I'd made before. In other words, my financial situation did the exact opposite of what the economy was doing because I made certain personal choices that improved my own personal financial situation.

No matter how bad an economy is, there's ALWAYS someone making money. If the unemployment rates ever hit as high as 20 percent, guess what? That means 80 percent of the people are employed. There are still millionaires and billionaires in this crappy economy. There are still people in the workforce that are making decent money. The idea is to always be one of the 80 percent....or be one of the people that find a way to make money even when the rest of the economy isn't great.

My hours were reduced here lately, not because of the economy, but because the manager of the company started over-hiring. Probably because the owner started getting greedy. Whatever. Anyway, that just gives me incentive to find a second job somewhere else. And possibly go into business for myself. I should have probably been working for 2 places before because multiple streams of income keep you from being too dependent on one.

No matter what the rules are, there are always loopholes and ways around playing the game altogether if it's not to your liking.

Yes, usually there's ways around things.

And yeah, there are some things that do better in a bad economy. Network marketing is one of those things. The worse the overall economy gets, the better those companies do because people are actively looking for a way out.

And yeah, there are always rich people. In fact, George Soros is one that's making a killing off of our country going in the shitter . . . to the point that now he is withdrawing from the market because it's gotten so bad. But then again, he bet against it . . . so he's profiting from this. And now that it's going down, he's getting out.

It doesn't matter what happens with the economy. If you have a good idea, you can make decent money.

For example, when the economy tanks, you can sell a service that saves people money. One idea is an energy consultation. You charge people $25/hour to comb through their home and tell them how they can save hundreds, or thousands of dollars! Anyone with enough motivation can do this VERY easy job. That's what this country lacks, MOTIVATION!
BTW, cheapest solar panels and systems: Sun Electronics in Miami, sunelec.com
See? that took me all of 5 minutes on google to find out. In the information age, it's extremely easy to get started on something new.

I started to sell a device that saves people an average of 25% on gas AND makes their cars more powerful (No, it's not HHO). I simply contacted the manufacturer and bought 50 of them in bulk for well under retail (I make double of what I bought them for, so if I spend $10k, I net $20k). I actually used some of the tools I learned through pickup to get these things wholesale (the guy already had a distributor in the U.S.).

Just my 2 cents

Well, it does matter what the economy does, actually. There are people that truly and simply can't afford to buy anything because of their situation.

But, I do agree with your point, since my last post made the same point, lol. And congrats on your entrepreneurial spirit and I hope that continues to work for you! Are you gonna keep going with it?

Cool! Use what you got.

Have you read any of Zig Ziglar's books on selling?

Nope. I saw the movie "Let The Game Begin" which was all about how this guy learns pickup to get millions to start his company.
